In Conversation with Nirushi Jain

Hi, my name is Nirushi, and I am a self-taught painter originally from Central part of India. My journey into the world of art started humbly, as a simple hobby, yet it has been a constant companion throughout my life. Since childhood, I’ve always had the habit of carrying a small sketchbook wherever I went, using any moment of stillness to fill it with doodles. It was my quiet escape, a way to express emotions and ideas without words.

Back in India, I never imagined that this passion could grow beyond a personal pastime. My professional background is in engineering, and for a long time, I saw art as nothing more than a creative outlet. But moving to New York City changed everything. This city has a unique energy—a vibe that constantly inspires you.I found myself not just doodling in sketchbooks but turning blank canvases into colorful, expressive artworks filled with bold strokes and vivid hues.

Now, my home has transformed into personal gallery. Each one represents a different emotion, experience, or inspiration, and seeing them brings me a sense of contentment and fulfillment that I’ve never felt before. This personal joy is what pushed me to step outside my comfort zone and share my work with the world. I decided to take my art beyond my home and had my first art show in Brooklyn. It was a milestone, not just for me as an artist, but as a person realizing the endless possibilities that lay ahead. And now, my artistic journey continues to unfold with more events ,meeting new artist and connecting with them , new people who want to connect with me and know more about my journey.

Initially,I was nervous about doing events , but the response was overwhelming. People connected with my art in ways I hadn’t expected—they saw pieces of their own emotions and stories in my work. It was incredibly heartwarming to witness how others were moved by what I had created. More than that, many people chose to bring my art into their homes, making it a part of their own lives. Seeing my work hanging in someone else’s space, knowing it now carries meaning in their world, has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.

As I continue to exhibit my work at events, the love and appreciation people have shown for my art only fuels my desire to create more. Every connection, every story shared with me about how my paintings have touched someone’s life, brings a deeper sense of purpose to what I do. And so, this journey continues—driven by emotions, expressions and story in the art.
